Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi Movie Review: Did Kangana Ranaut Direct The Best Period Drama Yet?
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi Movie Review
Cast: Kangana Ranaut, Ankita Lokhande, Richard Keep.
Director: Kangana Ranaut, and Krish.
Story: The story is about the bravest and the most adored Jhansi Ki Rani who fought for India against all odds.
Performances: Kangana Ranaut delivers an uneven performance, shocking but it is true, Kangana is very good in scenes which required her to be loud, but she failed to convince audiences during more mature, subtle scenes. Ankita Lokhande has very little screen time, but she performed better than Kangana and other supporting actors.
Direction: Krish and Kangana both directed the film, and audiences can easily understand which portions are directed by a seasonal director like Krish and which once were directed by actress Kangana. The film needed lots of editing, better screenplay and better direction. The film loses punch after fifteen minutes. Even though the film tells the story about most inspiring woman of Indian history, weak screenplay and childish direction made the film unwatchable.
Verdict: Read books on Jhansi Ki Rani rather than watching this film, it is not worth your money.
