Low Fat Diet Might Be Beneficial for Breast Cancer
A recent study has found that low-fat diet can be very beneficial for breast cancer. This news was declared after a study conducted over a considerable period of time showed the benefits of a low-fat diet on issues like obesity and breast cancer.
Apparently, this diet worked wonders for those who were suffering from the first or second stage of breast cancer. The diet actually helped the patients by giving a 36% reduction of death risk from being on a low-fat diet.
After their diagnosis was made, the patients suffering from breast cancer were put on a low-fat diet for 5 years, and it did benefit them considerably. Oncologist Rowan Chlebowski claimed that he saw a remarkable reduction in the cause of death for the women, and it was extremely heartening. Dr. Chlebowski currently works at the Biomedical Research Institute at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
It was also noted that women with both ER-negative and progesterone-receptor negative (PR-negative) cancers had a much larger reduction in death risks, as observed through the time period of the study. The low-fat diet followed reduced their death risk by 56%, which is a huge number, and this gives hope to thousands of people around the globe suffering from breast cancer.
