The South Beach Diet
The South Beach Diet is a fad diet that was designed by Arthur Agatston. The diet promotes eating lean proteins, unsaturated fats, low glycemic carbs, and a lot of fiber. The diet specifically determines which carbohydrates and fats are good or bad.
There are 3 different stages of the diet, which means that the amount of carbohydrate is increased slowly while the consumption of protein and fats is cut down at the same time. There are numerous foods that are recommended on the diet, including vegetables and lean meats. There isn’t a calorie restriction in this diet, but there is also an exercise regiment and it allows for 3 meals and 2 snacks every day.
The first phase of the diet is where you have a rapid amount of weight loss and eliminate all of your cravings and it only lasts for 14 days. In the 2nd phase you can eat more foods and during this time you typically reach your target weight. The last phase is the phase where you keep on the diet for the rest of your life so that you can maintain the weight loss.
There are many different lean proteins that you can eat while on this diet, including beef, fish, chicken, pork, turkey, shellfish and lunch meats. There is also a huge array of vegetables that you can eat, including artichokes, tomatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, broccoli, spinach, and zucchini. There are also quite a few dairy products that can be included such as yogurt, milk, cheese, eggs and buttermilk. However, this list grows after the 2nd phase and includes many more items.
