International Agency : Reasons for cancer Obesity
Obesity is one of the significant reasons for cancer
International Agency for Research on Cancer has done a study and has revealed that 500,000 cancer cases in 2012 were linked directly to obesity. It states that these cases could have avoided completely. GLOBOCAN is a database for cancer incidence used by 182 countries worldwide and the study says that obesity remains a significant cause of cancer in the majority of the patients. As per the research North America has the highest number of cancer cases with Canada accounting 6,000 cancer cases a year while the Africa has the least. Obesity is increasing globally and has double in numbers since 1980.
Obesity has become very common these days in adults attributed to 345,000 new cancer cases for women and 136,000 for men with the figures it is clear that women have more cause for concern. Colon and Kidney cancers are more in men related to obesity. Postmenopausal breast cancer is commonly obesity-related cancer seen in women. Deaths in cancer patients are increasing and overweight contributes 20 percent death in women and 14 percent in the case of men. According to doctors obesity will change the normal functioning of the human body; this abnormality will result in the growth of harmful cells in the body. World Health Organization recommends a balanced diet and regular physical activity for weight control.
