70% of Americans Missing HIV Treatment! CDC Says
A mere 30% of HIV patients in America are the only percentage of those not missing the treatment. This means that that is the only number that has the condition under control. CDC said that this is really frightening as they released a new report that found out this. People who receive AIDS treatment are less susceptible to diseases. There is also a reduced risk of infecting others if you are under medication.
“People with HIV who achieve viral suppression aren’t just healthier — they’re also less likely to infect others,” Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Tom Frieden told reporters. “Today’s study shows too many people with HIV aren’t getting the care they need.”
The study didn’t look into the reasons why those infected are missing the treatment. However, it is speculated that the U.S health care system can be held responsible for this. CDC suggests that providers should go extra miles to ensure that those diagnosed and found to have HIV are treated.
When there is an infection, it ought to be treated. Only 40% have the audacity of seeing a medical officer about their condition. Though HIV has no cure, medical attention is highly needed to prolong one’s life. Just 37% have a prescription for virus controlling drugs while only 30% had control of the virus.
